HPF actually is beginner (and shoulder-injury) friendly as you do not do any chaturangas. The poses were offered in “layers.” There were modifications offered to make it more or less difficult depending on where you are in your practice. So, you have the movements linked to breath, but at times you hold the poses a bit longer that you would in a traditional power/vinyasa class. As the descriptions states, it is a combo of Power Yoga and Hot Yoga.Loved her class! Abby and I doing some poses from Hot Power Fusion (HPF) She assured me that I would be fine…sometimes you just need a little pep talk! Abby is very engaging and encouraging, and her teaching style reflects this. I spoke to her before the class as I signed in, and admitted that this was the one class on the schedule that sounded intimidating to me. The assistant manager of CPY Mockingbird Station, Abby, taught the class. The heated yoga classes I have taken have been about 90-98 degrees, so this was a bit hotter and higher in humidity. Prior to this, I had not experienced a very “hot yoga” or Bikram class, so I knew that I would be in for something different. Class is heated (about 100 degrees) with around 40% humidity.” ![]() Set to music, this class is energizing and fun and appeals to anyone who appreciates a healthy sweat. Practiced in a heated, climate-controlled environment, this class focuses on opening the shoulders, hips and spine as well as strengthening core and upper body. ![]() It encompasses the meditative and detoxifying qualities of Hot Yoga with the intensity of Power Yoga. Here is the description of this class from the CPY site: “ This class blends powerful elements of CorePower Yoga’s Hot Yoga and Power Yoga classes. With the company’s expansion into Dallas, I am hoping that there will be a CorePower Yoga studio in my neighborhood very soon (hint, hint)! This week I am focusing on Hot Power Fusion. The first class of the day at CPY typically starts at 6am, and the last class starts at 8:30pm, so there are several options that work for just about any schedule. ![]() Perfect for busy moms…or anyone for that matter, who would like to fit yoga into their active lifestyle. There are at least 4 classes to choose from that are in that “school day” time slot. I have also attended class on the weekend. I have really enjoyed practicing at CorePower Yoga in Mockingbird Station (CPY) this month! I tend to go on the days that both of my kids are in school. ![]()
